A Moment to Make a Mother's Heart Sing

Aren't they cute? This was right when Caspian came home from Idaho for the summer. However, this is not the moment of which I speak. We were at my nephew's birthday party yesterday, and as they were starting to clean up, totally unprompted, Caspian asked my sister-in-law, "Is there anything I can do to help?" WOW! Way to go, kid! I was so proud of him. He really is a good kid, especially in social situations. YAY!

Birthday Earrings

My buddy, Lisa Marie Mary, wanted to see these puppies, so here are the ultra-cool earrings that Caspian made for me for my birthday.

First off, here's the closeup of just the earrings:

And here they are, as they look in their natural environment, on me:

I'm a holdout

I'm a holdout in the land of sickos. So far. Wish me luck. I started to feel it last night. I really don't want to be sick. I've held out this long. At LEAST let me hold off until, oh say, Thursday. I'd rather just skip it altogether. C'mon Universe, help me bypass this illness. (I always think I'm going to, but I tend to just be the last pin to fall.)

Caspian added to his issues yesterday by a run-in with the cabinet:

(To here Caspian talk about it without saying much, go here.)

Zane seems to be trying to be a holdout, too, by sleeping for like 3 hours yesterday afternoon. (His usual nap is 30-60 minutes.)

Illness, go AWAY!

Feeling Introverted - Kid Party Shell Shock

It's so funny that my last two entries have been about online popularity contests and I just can't seem to write a real post the past few days. I thought of something earlier and now I plum forgot it.

I have a lot of pictures to go through from Caspian's kid party yesterday, but thinking of that intimidates me. And then I might have to relive it. ::shudder:: Kid party. ::shudder:: We had approximately 7 kids here and we might as well have had 70.

The upside? We don't have to do it for at least another year! Yaaaaaaaaayyyy! We always hate doing the kid party. We got out of it last year. Other times we feel guilted into it. This year it was because we are new here. How could we not invite his new friends over? So we did. We are not the picture perfect parents. We are fun, sometimes. But not fun in the way of wanting to be involved in kid-related things. We are not fun in that way. So, this is what we do out of guilt. NOW, everyone is asking us if the party is a SLEEPOVER? Are they INSANE? This was 2 hours and it was PLENTY. Plenty, I say. Plenty.

Ok, I found one photo. If I ever get my shit together, I might have more.

(See, here's the problem. Blogger is not letting me upload. So I have to upload to Flickr. Or I could use dropshots, but I'm at my limit. It's a pain to upload to Flickr. I tried to upload their tool, but it didn't work. Arrrgh. Technology.)l

Anyway, here it is:

9 Year Old Wisdom

Caspian turned 9 today!!! Yay!!! I cannot remember where the phrase "9 year old wisdom" started. It happened last night. He thought he was being particularly smart about something and said his "9 year old wisdom" must have already showed up. Heh heh. There were then many jokes about whether it was coming FedEx, UPS, USPS. Could we track it online? You know. Here's a pic for ya. I think I'll write more about the day on Shameless Reality Show, since that's what that is for.

Isn't he cute?

Dinner Conversation: Nature's Candy

This just in from Caspian:

"I love carrots. You know what we should do one Halloween?"

Me: "What?"

"Well, you know how people are afraid of the color orange?"

"Ummmm...no." (much laughter)

"Well, I thought we could hand out carrots."

"I don't think we'd be very popular for that."

"What? They're nature's candy!"

Caspian: Megaglobe Idol

Caspian has wanted to be an actor and a singer for a few years now. He is 8 years old, loves to read, surf the net, play video games, listen to music, and play with his friends. Once he heard about Megaglobe, the amazing new international search engine available in 45 languages and able to sell ads in 50 currencies, he just had to rap about it.

Caspian spent a number of hours working on the song he wrote himself and practicing the lyrics before his offical taping of Mega, Mega, Mega, Mega Megaglobe. He just can't wait for the new launching of Megaglobe to make his internet search time more efficient.

Here, I'll let him tell you all about it...
