What I'm Reading

After watching The Secret, I've been enjoying getting back into some of my personal development and metaphysical studies. I always feel the best when I'm practicing this stuff. The new book I'm reading is Your Destiny Switch by Peggy McColl. It's all about using the power of your emotions to create the life of your dreams. It's got some great exercises to help harness that power and stay "switched on" to a more positive, successful, productive, abundant, connected, joyous, and loving way of life. Good stuff.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I don't know what I'm whispering about. This thing is called The Secret, but let me tell you, it seems everyone knows. Just in case you have a toddler or some other excuse for being slightly behind the times, I thought I'd fill you in here. The Secret is a really great book (haven't read it yet) and DVD (which we did watch). It is the secret of the universe. Really. It seems to be everywhere these days. To which I say, "Whew". Maybe we will all start to finally get it. Or at least some of us. Or at least me and you. Check it out.

A Bit of a Bloggy Holiday

As you can see, I sure haven't been blogging much. I've been trying to get the rest of my life in balance and then I'll be working on fitting blogging back into that.

I started my new weight loss program, which is taking up some time, and ironically, not working yet. (Just made some alterations, so fingers crossed, next week!)

I finally had everything together and got our taxes done. Yahoooooo to that!

I'll be going to training for a week starting next Wednesday to finally be in the right job at work. Yahooooooo to that. I'm really looking forward to it.

After that, I hope to have a regular schedule (and a regular income to go along with it.) Then I'll be able to get my bloglife a little more in order. I am a bit concerned that my schedule may still be up in the air. Grrrrr. Not a fan of that one, but we'll see what happens. I've got a couple more weeks to float through anyway.

So, stay tuned, and I'll pop in when I can. Or see you more in April, I hope.

It's all about balance. Balance is good.

The Lotus Path

I have been a spiritual seeker and personal development enthusiast for over a decade now. I've read numerous books, attended classes, studied astrology, and even married a psychic healer. So, I've been around the new age block a little bit. I haven't been as immersed in the past few years because my mothering has taken a front seat to my other passionate pursuits, but I still love to know what's going on and share new information with others.

I just learned about The Lotus Path online, and The Lotus Path workshops. It looks quite interesting. I've always been drawn to anything with the word Lotus in it, and I loved the look and feel of the website. Here is their logo:

The workshops are held in the Sierra foothills between Yosemite and Fresno, California. The purpose of a workshop is to clear the energy of the chakras and work with your own divine energy. Facilitator Betty Malicoat takes pride in being direct about what she offers. My psychic healer husband has that sort of approach himself after being in the industry for a number of years.

The site itself is very attractive, informative, and easy to navigate. If you feel at all called to this sort of experience and will be in that general area, I encourage you look into it further at The Lotus Path online.

Thankfulness

I've been a blog slacker today, but I was tagged by Alli, so I thought I should at least get this out there. Besides, I like it.

Three things I am thankful for:

1. My connection with the divine

2. The love of and for family and friends

3. I'm not in the living room right now as Kevin just let one fly

Oh dear, maybe I should pick a different #3.

New 3. Financial abundance

Now I have to tag, so here goes: Heather, Mel, and Elizabeth

Feelin' Poorly? Or Want to Help Others Who Are? Read On!

My dear sweet husband, Kevin, is a healer. He was a professional healer and teacher when I met him. Somehow, I unwittingly killed his career with my love. Or the fact that he needed to move to Milwaukee to be with me. He was also somewhat disillusioned with "the industry", meaning mostly New Agey-type folks. Kevin believes a lot of truths, but he doesn't stand for any nontruths and he'll tell ya exactly what he thinks they are!

Anyhow, much to my happiness, he has recently gotten back into teaching and healing (he's been healing all along, just wasn't charging money.) He is great at it. If you have any interest in a healing or learning to heal others using his methods, check this out. If you just want to read about the cool things he does, check out his healing blog, Theta Mind.

Good Morning America

Well, sorta. This morning was so funny. Good Morning America had a segment on that showed how to find the best glasses for your face shape. Ha ha ha ha ha hah! Do you think the universe is trying to tell me something? Still no for sure job on the horizon, so I'm reluctant to put away the masking tape for a real pair of new prescription glasses. Plus, I've never gone here. They don't seem to have a Stein Optical, which is where I went in Milwaukee. I'm thinking of going to Lenscrafters. Anyone, anyone?

I need to do a card reading on my job situation. But I'm blogging right now. Haven't felt like blogging in a while, so I best get to it, huh? I think I might even do a vlog for Shameless Reality Show! Hold the phone!

Oh yeah, and I wanted to do an entry on the new moon. I'll go look into that. Oh, let's hope Zane stays asleep! (Well, I don't know if you really care, but I do.)

Koolanoo: The World's First Jewish Social Network

Ok, so no, I'm not Jewish. When I saw this Jewish Dating site, I wasn't quite sure what I thought about it. At first I thought it was a little too exclusive an idea for me. But, then I thought, "Well, I liked dating folks who had the same spiritual background and beliefs that I do, so what the heck."

Here's a vid that I also was unsure of. I know, I know...it's supposed to be funny. It's cute in a way. But, the end? I'm just not sure. I figured I'd post it and let you decide. Both the site and the video feel like they could be evocative of some good discussions. I think what made me less comfortable with the idea to begin with was, ironically, the description of the site name: koolanoo. In Hebrew, it means "all of us." But it seems to me, the site isn't about ALL of us, is it? Comments? (Comments are moderated here, and I don't want anything disrespectful, but I am curious what others think of this, both Jewish and non-Jewish folks.)

Anyway, here's the vid:

So, what did YOU think?

Mr. Sandman

After 21 months of cosleeping, I have noticed a thing or two about falling asleep. First of all, it's often very hard to lay down with your baby and get them to sleep without falling asleep yourself. (It's also very hard for me to know whether I should be typing "lay" or "lie".) At least it is for me.

It's the weirdest thing. It's like sleep just descends on the room at some point, and you better be on guard, or you're going out with the baby. What IS that? Kevin said it happens to him, too. Is there really a Sandman who comes along only at certain times and tries to take out as many people as possible? Does the little one lying next to me try to grab my spirit and take it with him? I sometimes can feel when he falls asleep. Not to creep anyone out, but it's similar to what I felt when I sat next to my stepfather as he died. It must be what it's like when we leave the body. A feeling of floating around the room. It feels free.
