Yes, my Obamamania is continuing. Well, Obama and Will.i.am. It's just so exciting. Love it. Hope. Progress. Unity. Peace. It's a new day. I can't help it. Obama's Aquarian ascendant is about 2 degrees from my Aquarian sun. I don't know what the rest of the world's excuse is, but for me that means his personality projects the core of who I am. Wow. The Aquarian age, peeps. We've been waiting and here it is.
I'm so into politics and following world events now. I really didn't before. I thought I didn't care. But I guess I just had no hope. Now I see that the world really is going in a good direction. I guess I knew the world was going in a good direction, but to have leadership in the United States going in the direction of peace, intelligence, unity, innovation, and progress is so exciting. What a relief!
Lovin' the Silverman. PLEASE participate in the "The Great Schlep". Sean, get down there! (I know that's not where your grandparents are, but you can convince some Nanas. I know you can. Yes, you can.)
I have been into mySpace a bit lately. It comes and goes for me. I don't know why. I guess it depends on if anyone is sending me msgs or comments. Ha. Anyway, I've been into it lately. I signed in today and found this video, so I decided I would share. I don't know quite why, but I am fond of it. Enjoy!
Man, I gotta stay on top of my friend, Zach Braff. This dude actually GOT to his #1 MySpace space. (Is that how you say it? Is that like saying "a.m. in the morning"? Or "ATM Machine?") Anyway, Zach's always got something funny and or cool going down at his space. But check out this ode.
Well, PayPerPost is definitely up to something again. They have asked us to share our most outrageous, exciting, or embarassing concert experience in video. And then there will be a contest on YouTube. Whoever gets the most views wins $500! AND, the contest ends just a couple short days before my birthday. Wouldn't that be the ultimate birthday gift? Five hundred smackers. We could really use that.
But, what exactly is PayPerPost up to? I have a feeling perhaps they are planning something of their own PayPerPost Concert or something. Maybe it will be Ted and the Catfeesh.
HP has some great tools for Digital Photography Review. Check out the following video where HP and PayPerPost go out on a PayPerPost Postie Patrol with Robyn Nykaza. It shows some of the completely cool and awesomely spontaneous things you can capture with HP products.
When I heard all the things Robin was going to have to find, I got a little bit stressed out for her. Timed things stress me out. I immediately thought, "HOW is she going to find someone in shorts on that bitterly cold day?" so I LOVED that Ted gave her that right off the bat. Love Ted. And then how everyone went along with her definitely made it more fun. I love how these things are challenges, but the team is rooting for you to win. HP is so cool for doing this.
I thought it was hilarious that Robin was slightly reluctant to put "I heart HP" on her forehead with a black sharpie, but didn't have any problem kissing that strange guy. I would have NO PROBLEM writing whatever, wherever if I were lucky enough to be offered this opportunity. That looked like the easy part. Would I participate in something like this for the completely rad HP gear? In a heartbeat! It might be harder to do a lot of that stuff in Olympia, but I imagine they'd give me an achievable goal.
I'd also love to see my husband (also a postie) do it! We could use that camera and printer so bad. We just got a new puppy! And my dear friend in Milwaukee who also has a Yorkie is NOT online, so I'd need to print the pics and send them to her (something I never do now, because I have no photo printer). Heck, if HP wanted to replace my husband's HP computer that needs a little work, that would be great too. Well, the $1000 would do that.
Ok, so again. Thanks HP for hangin' with PayPerPost. What a great partnership. You guys are cool.
As a subscriber to the PayPerPost YouTube channel, I feel uniquely qualified to write about their presence there. Of course, you know by now that PayPerPost is the company that facilitates ads on blogs by bringing advertisers and content creators (bloggers) together.
I like that they are using YouTube so extensively to get more buzz about their company and services. It's a smart move, in my opinion. I also like that they use it to help create community between their posties and their staff. We get to see not only the names behind the company, but the faces and SO MUCH MORE! (Sometimes too much? Naaaaah.) This is a new level of transparency in business, and I think it's great. I have experienced and read about some of PayPerPost's competition, and I think this one element of community goes a long way towards building their business and the loyalty that people, especially bloggers, feel towards it. An old fundraising adage says "People give to people, not organizations" and I think that's true in this case as well. I do my best for PayPerPost because I am loyal to it. I go the extra mile because I know who they are and care about them and their product.
But anyway, enough of my PayPerPost love, on to their YouTube channel, specifically. They've got some great stuff on there.
First of all, they have all the episodes of Rockstartup--the reality show about the beginnings of PayPerPost. If you haven't seen it. Check it out! Here's the first episode to get you hooked.
Then, there are the video confessionals from the staff. Here is where we really get to see what is going on with everyone. I loved Randy's (Randi's?) initial video. He told a lot. I guess that's what happens when you put the word "confessional" in there. Here it is.
There's also some things that are just plain fun. Here is Ted's impersonation of a catfish. My kids love to watch it. And he challenged the posties to give their impersonations as well. A good fun opportunity. I have had a number of views of my own catfish (for better or worse!)
I have to say, though, that I think my favorite video so far might be Ted's Rap Smackdown on Colleen. I just love it. He started it off as a bit of fun that none of us were even paid for. However, it did generate a lot of buzz in our community and helped keep all of us hyped about PayPerPost while we were waiting for some more advertisers to come along (which they have). Did you think we didn't notice? Ha ha! Anyway, here's the smackdown. I also got a lot of hits on my blog from people coming to see my smackdown on Laura.
So, when you go the PayPerPost's YouTube channel, you'll see a variety of content, including great information and lots of creativity. You'll also see the inside scoop of PayPerPost. And don't we all just wanna know what's going on behind the scenes? I do. I'm sure you do, too!
Well, we've had this rocker dude staying on our couch and eating us out of house and home. I thought I'd post his video, so at least I'm getting something out of it. (Ok, you got me, it's really Kevin doing his PayPerPost Spazoid video.) And it's so funny, I'm posting it just for the fun of it. C'mon people, pick up on some of Kevin's vids and make them viral. He's f'in' funny!
(Plus, he was a little jealous of my post about Steve's butt. I mean, Steve.) ~t
Nope, it's not in movie theaters, people. It's right here online. I don't get out and I've become so completely internet geeky, I rarely see TV unless it's toddler placation. So now, I get my reality tv fix online.
Yes, folks, if you've been paying attention, we've been watching the stellar beginnings of startup PayPerPost, where you Get Paid to Talk about the Things You Love. (Check my referral button in the sidebar.)
I talked about my love for the beginnings of Rockstartup in an earlier post. Well, episode three kept me just as interested. Here, we see the drama unfold as the PayPerPost crew moves out of cramped space they had been sharing into their brand spankin' new own colorful offices. As most of us know, the course of construction and moving an entire office rarely runs smoothly. It is especially fun and nostalgic for me to watch this develop, as it reminds me so much of my experience working for Ten Chimneys as a startup. Anyway, check out episode 3, right here, on my blog. It doesn't hurt that their staff is so darn cute, either.
It seems lately that I get on a theme for a few posts and run with it. Well, I seem to have a PayPerPost theme today. What can I say. I heart PayPerPost. I heart blog money.
And what's not to love about PayPerPost's new affiliate program? It's rad. You just put a sweet button up on your blog, and if people click it, sign up, and make it through the approval and posting process, then you get $15. That's THREE times what PayPerPosties got for referrals until now, and more than you get a lot of other places for referrals as well. I chose the button with their catchy slogan, because I love to sing it, "Get paid to blog about the things you love."
I feel a little bad now. Like what if Kevin Smith Googles himself and finds my review? I mean, I like him enough. Maybe people seem to think he's brilliant. And even I kinda think he's brilliant. I'm sure if Kevin Smith Googles himself, my blog will be the first thing that comes up, right? See, I'm giving him some link love. Because I'm sure he really needs it. And really, I like him. But no, my site didn't come up on the first page of Google. Whew, right? HEY! It's not on the second page either? WTF? Ha ha.
Plus, Kevin Smith is friends with Zach Braff. And Zach Braff, ladies and gentlemen. Well, Zach Braff. He's just so cool. I think I have a cool theme going on right now. I have another one for you in a second. But I just saw that there is a clip available for the Scrubs Musical...
I think I've talked about Bed Head on here before. Kevin took a picture of his bed head every day for a year from October 2005 to October 2006. He had them posted on his website every day. We have recently compiled them into a video for your viewing pleasure. I made two videos: the first one is the full collection of bed head photos and is over 6 minutes long. We have heard that is too long. I pretty much knew that, but it's 365 photos! It's a year, it's going to be long. So, I've also made an abridged version with what I think are the best shots spanning the year. Here it is:
If you're interested in the full version, it can be viewed here: A Year of Bed Head, full version.
We hope you enjoy Kevin's morning ugly! Be sure to check out the bed head section on his website to read his hilarious comments with each photo.
Music used with kind permission from The Quickies.
If you have ever thought you might like to get paid for blogging, you should definitely check out this video I've just completed for PayPerPost. They are a really fun company to work with. (I know, dangling preposition, but doesn't it sound more awkward the other way?) At any rate, I was asked to answer the question, "PPP vs. ?" and describe in detail the sort of battle I would like to see PayPerPost engage in. (Did I just do it again? Goodness, I must stop that. Is it true that if you know grammar rules you can break them?)
Well, I chose Charro. But do not worry, the lovely Charro will not be hurt (I hope). There is a twist. I do have to say, although I am quite casual in my video, I liked the way it turned out. I plan to be doing more videologs, so I need to get used to it. It's fun. I was only sad I forgot to mention Antonio's amazing mouth. It would definitely come in handy. So, there, I've mentioned it.
Now, here's the vid:

ps: Ugh, I look like Billy Idol on a very bad day in that screen shot!
We are creating a life where we do what we want when we want. We have what we want when we want. We are abundant and free. We enjoy life, love, family, fun, music, travel, reading, movies and so much more.
