Why do I blog?

Dear Sweet Retta tagged me about a million years ago on this one. I'm supposed to come up with 5 reasons. I'll tell ya right now, I'm not tagging anyone. I'm such a rebel.

1. Heather talked me into it. She pressured me.
2. I stopped putting things in Zane's baby book earlier than most. This is my excuse.
3. It's fun and creative without being overly stressful.
4. It's the above and I still am making some money at it.
5. I've met some cool people this way.

Thankfulness

I've been a blog slacker today, but I was tagged by Alli, so I thought I should at least get this out there. Besides, I like it.

3. I'm not in the living room right now as Kevin just let one fly

Fave Movies Meme

My friend Deb over at Surviving NJ tagged me to talk about my favorite movies. Confused by the two different links? Well, Deb's a Gemini. She's the twins. She's got two blogs. What can I say? She's also very talented at making money online and she's written a book! You should go buy it. Now.

Ok, on to the movies. I guess I'm supposed to pick 5. That is tough. I'm going to try not to over think this because that could take me all day.

1. Garden State.



I love Zach Braff. I have written him a few glowing "I love your movies" messages on mySpace. Apparently, he's really busy or something. Zach wrote, directed, and starred in Garden State. It is great in the details and great in the structure, something hard to come by. I kept waiting for it to get dull. It didn't. Zach also has excellent taste in music, so the soundtrack is awesome. It's mellow enough to nurse your newborn to for weeks.

2. Legends of the Fall.



Ok, this is sorta a chick flick. I don't mind that. I'm a chick. It's a classic in my opinion. Brad at the top of his game. Never hotter. Love the store. Dramatic, majestic, romantic, mythic, beautiful, meaningful, sad, and epic. And don't you just love to imitate Anthony Hopkins saying, "Screw the guv'ment. SCREW 'em!" We like to.

3. Cold Comfort Farm.



Kate Beckinsale plays an older orphan who goes to live with her weird relatives in order to find fodder for her work as a writer. In the process, she makes over the whole weird place. It's very charming and funny and unique. "I saw something nasty in the woodshed." They keep playing it on BBCA, so check it out.

4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Interesting idea. Well done. Quirky people. Great story.



5. The Princess Bride. Another classic. We've been talking about this on one of my forums. It may seem like a fantasy film, but it's mostly comedy. It's brilliantly hilarious and feel good, too.

5 Things Meme

OMG, I've been tagged in a meme by Colleen. Is that the correct terminology? I only recently even looked into what the heck a meme even is. (Mostly because I heard someone railing on them!) If any of the rest of you are as in the dark as I am, I got the following definition here:

“ meme n (mëm): A unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. From the Greek mimëma, something imitated, from mimeisthai, to imitate."

” In Blogspeak, a meme is an idea that is shared and passed from blog to blog, like a question posted in one blog and answered in many other blogs."

Well, that makes sense to me. "Meme" is French for "same".

Allright, this meme is: 5 Things You Probably Don't Know about Me.

Seeing as I plaster my life all over the internet, this could be tough. However, my PR is low enough that maybe no one reads what I write, so how would know. But then again, you wouldn't be reading this now, in that case. Are you even reading this now? Allright, allright, I'm going to try to dig deep...

Depending on who you are, you may not know:

1. I never smoked pot until after college
2. I went through a weird period where I listened to a lot of Barbra Streisand. I'm not talking menstrual period. I'm talking about a few months of Streisand in my 20s.
3. I've worn contacts since I was 12.
4. Caspian playing with his toes next to me totally grosses me out.
5. I loved road trips until I took a few with my husband. ::shudder::

(I suppose the 6th thing is that I can't figure out how to do a numbered list and make it look nice in Blogger. But I suppose you might know that now.)
