ROTTEN LITTLE ANIMALS by Kevin Shamel is now available at Amazon.com!

From Kevin Shamel's website (click pic to buy the book NOW!):

Animals are people too! And that is messed up. So they have independent cinema. See what happens when an animal film crew kidnap a human boy and make a movie of the abduction. Read things about Nature that just aren't natural. Fear your pets from this day forward. With zombie-cat attacks, gun-blasting massacres, drugged-out puppet shows, exploding car chases, camera-chickens, bat acrobats, wild sex, martini parties and torture-ROTTEN LITTLE ANIMALS is a crazy ride through the underground animal film scene and on to the Big Time.

Here’s what some world famous writers have said about it:

“Like a bionic Ralph Bakshi reborn from snorting Orwell’s ashes, Kevin Shamel drags cherished childhood fantasies into the gutter of adulthood, and makes you pay dearly to swallow them all over again. Intelligence is a universal disease, but never fear. Rotten Little Animals just may be the cure we’ve been praying for.”
–Cody Goodfellow, author of Radiant Dawn and Silent Weapons For Quiet Wars.

“Looney Tunes amped up on cocaine, sex and soft, silky fur and feathers. Shamel’s debut is wildly entertaining and destined to become an instant bizarro classic.” –Gina Ranalli, author of Mother Puncher, Sky Tongues, Swarm of Flying Eyeballs, and many other wonderful bizarro books.

“It begins as a zombie film, transforms into a deranged puppet show, and ends with a car chase. If you ever wondered what a Pixar exploitation film would be like, you need Rotten Little Animals.” –Cameron Pierce, author of Shark Hunting in Paradise Garden, and The Ass Goblins of Auschwitz.

“This book has three of my favorites things: Kittens, Zombies, and Snuff Films.” –Jeff Burk, editor of The Magazine of Bizarro Fiction and author of Shatnerquake.

“Written with the humor of Adult Swim, but with enough psychological profundity to matter. Shamel is a bright motherfucker!” –Forrest Armstrong, beatmaster extraordinaire and author of Asphalt Flowerhead.

World famous Withersin Magazine has this to say:

“Funny, disturbing, and lots of poop… While tickling our funny bone, Shamel also brings up a horrifying thought: if animals could think and function together, they probably would be plotting to over throw us.”

What will YOU say about ROTTEN LITTLE ANIMALS?

A Little Bit of Salaciousness

Hmmm...not sure if I spelled that right in the title. No, it's not about my life. My life is somewhat dull. Somewhat. It's the book I'm reading...

This book has a slight edge of the Harlequin romance, but I am a sucker for historical fiction. The Other Boleyn Girl is all about Anne Boleyn's rise to (and fall from) power, told from the perspective of her sister, who was also a mistress to King Henry VIII. Once I got used to the romancey scenes, I really enjoyed it. I have also read Gregory's other work, which focused on the the time immediately following Henry VIII's death and Queen Elizabeth's rise to power...

It's interesting to see a historical period and figures from an insider's perspective, even if that perspective is a good deal of speculation. The characters really come to life, and it helps me keep my history straight. Ha. If you like historical fiction, check these out, and tell me what you think.

Zane's New Bike

So, we got Zane this super cool new type of bike. I hear it's European. There are no training wheels. It is not a tryke. And there are no pedals! It's supposed to help him find and keep his balance. He's pretty good at balancing when he's climbing and jumping and dancing, so we'll see how he does with this. Here are some pics...

Apparently, they are called push bikes, walking training bikes, or walking bikes. Here is one I found on Amazon that Zane seems to wish he had:

The reviews on this one were pretty good. And it's cute, too. We got one of the wooden ones that was more like this (although not quite this spendy)...

What I'm Reading

After watching The Secret, I've been enjoying getting back into some of my personal development and metaphysical studies. I always feel the best when I'm practicing this stuff. The new book I'm reading is Your Destiny Switch by Peggy McColl. It's all about using the power of your emotions to create the life of your dreams. It's got some great exercises to help harness that power and stay "switched on" to a more positive, successful, productive, abundant, connected, joyous, and loving way of life. Good stuff.

Attention Parents of Toddlers

If any of you do NOT have Fisher Price Little People, go right now and buy some. We got this for Christmas:

He LOVES this. He absolutely loves it. At first, he was really good about playing with them by himself. Now he still does sometimes, but we also hear a lot of "Play guys, Mommy" and "Play guys, Daddy."

We got some of the "guys" from my friend Erika, whose daughter is almost five now. One of my favorite guy memories is from a while ago, when I was talking to Erika on the phone and Emma was acting up (like they do). Erika said to Emma, quite sternly, "Emma, you go find yourself a guy and play with him."

The Devil Wears Prada

I dug this movie. It was the perfect "everyone's-gone-to-bed-and-I-have-the-living-room-to-myself" movie. I think I even got to watch it in one sitting. Holy heck, somewhat unheard of. I don't really understand why Anne Hathaway always has to play the ugly duckling, but I guess it works. Maybe it's in her astrological chart? This was just fun. I mean, there was a little bit of a message and all, but mostly it's girl fun with clothes and accessories. Which is not to say the story wasn't good. It was. It definitely kept me interested. And I just liked watching what they kept doing with Anne's bangs. Yes, I'm feeling very deep these days.

And for those of you who still read books: (I love to read books, just have a hard time doing it these days!)

Haircuts and Fraggles

Zane got his haircut today! He looks like a little Republican again. Ha. There was a cute little piece of personality on the top but I had her cut it off because I was afraid it would just dork out in weird ways. Then I was sad after she cut it. Oh well. You know what they say about hair.

The hair stylist was very considerate and gentle with him. At first, I thought she was being too considerate. "Just cut it! He's gonna cry. Just do it!" But I suppose she knew a thing or two because we only had a few tears and then she was able to cut it while he clung to me.

Where are the pictures, you ask? I didn't take any. What is my problem? Apparently this is not the real Terri typing, but someone who has been taken over by aliens or something. It's been a whirlwind day. After we got up and took a bath, we went for the haircut, then we drove (too far) to Best Buy (because we had a gift card) to get Fraggle Rock, the first season on DVD. Yay.

Then back to pick up Kevin and get "treats" at Starbucks for Zane being such a good boy. He got a "mocha" (really Strawberries and Cream) and a pumpkin scone. So good, he apparently decided lunch was for sissies and went straight to his nap.

I'll have to try to get a pic of his new 'do when he gets up.

A little light holiday reading

I've been enjoying a book that I wanted to share with you all.

You get to hear all the tawdry behind-the-scenes details of many of history's most famous rulers. And learn some history while you're at it. It's really easy to read, lots of fun, and makes a great...ahem...bathroom book. The chapters are just short enough for that or busy moms. Sometimes it just makes me wish I needed to spend more time in the bathroom. (Moms, you know how that is--the only place you get a break, IF you get a break there.)
